Islık Çalan Hafıza - The Whistling Memory

Yapı Kredi Müzesi'nin zengin nümismatik ve etnografik koleksiyonlarını güncel sanatla buluşturan “Islık Çalan Hafıza” sergisi, aynı adlı bir yayınla okurla buluşuyor. Kitapta, koleksiyonları inceleyerek eserlerini sergiye dahil eden sanatçılar Akram Zaatari, Hilal Can ve Michael Rakowitz'in pratiklerine kapsamlı bir bakış sunuluyor. Buluntu obje, hafıza ve hafızanın görünürlüğü üzerine taze bir perspektif sunmayı amaçlayan serginin detaylarına ve sanatçıların pratiklerinin köklerine dair bir inceleme yer alıyor. This volume offers an extensive look into the practices of artists Akram Zaatari, Hilal Can, and Michael Rakowitz, who took part in the exhibition with works that explored the museum's collections. It includes a detailed account of the specifics of the exhibition – which aims to put forward a fresh perspective on the notions of found objects, memory, and the latter's visibility – and of the roots of the artists' practices. The essays authored by Edhem Eldem, Vid Simoniti, and Seçil Epik specifically for this publication are accompanied by a text in which Osman Hamdi Bey and Théodore Reinach recount the story of the 1892 Sidon excavations.
