Zarife aspires to leave her poverty-stricken existence but finds herself drawn into the seedy world of the upper classes when she does. With a combination of brains and sex, she manages to become one of the wealthiest women in Turkey, but there is a price to pay... Although her success means past indiscretions can be bought off and forgotten, Zarife comes to realise that her chosen lifestyle has a hollowness, and she may have lost more than she gained.
